It’s always Italy…

You know, I fell in love with Italy a long time ago now. In 2008, in a time of tremendous personal sadness, my mom and I hopped on a plane and landed in Florence, where we rented a little car and hit the road. This was before phones were such omnipresent forces in our lives- back then I was still trying my hand at wedding photography so I brought my Canon with me instead. Of course, the light of Tuscany strikes a chord in your heart- then the people and the details seal the deal. I spoke Spanish only then, but we were able to communicate, given the sweet nature of Italian people who love to share what they love about Italy 🇮🇹 It was easily one of the best trips we’ve ever taken because we didn’t have much of a plan, other than the cities we would visit and a general sense of “we’ll figure it out.” Wandering through Boboli Gardens together, we picked out the same statues, noted the same ironwork. After exploring the walled city of Siena, we stumbled into a trattoria where the servers were also part of the local opera society; they let us sit and have a bite to eat while they sang and set the tables. 🎶 In Volterra, we followed the Gallo Nero and met a true character whose wine cellar featured an old dentist chair and countless bras of all the women who had left them, sort of an Italian spring break bar with njuda (before you could get it imported to the states, fresh sausage was an unexpected delight) and great Montepulciano? We marveled at the truck stops along the A1 having better food than most places back home and vowed to return- but the seed of love had been planted. Italy is never a bad idea. In Cetona, we found the best restaurant was housed in a monastery that practiced what it preached- it served as a rehabilitation for drug addicted individuals to have a second chance at life. The Father served us Nocello made out back. You could go there 50 times and have 50 different trips and still not scratch the surface. The great author Frances Mayes writes, “Always Italy”- and those of us that know, cannot disagree. It is always Italy. #italy #tuscany #italytravel #italy🇮🇹it would be my sincere pleasure to plan your 2025 Italy trip. DM me to get planning!
