New Year, New You- 2025.

The things they carried…

There is an article in The NY Times right now about a family of women that has passed down a set of china continuously for 5 generations. The author is the mother of 2 boys and laments that the china might not be passed to an interested party who will cherish the meaning behind this gift.

I am the person to pass the china on to ❤️ and consequently, the travel agent that is looking for stories exactly like this when I am planning a trip. I want to know the makers and the artisans and then, the person who buys the pieces and cherishes them for the rest of their lives. Some of my favorite things in this world (besides my beautiful family) are objets and jewelry that I’ve found on my travels. I have a ceramic plate I brought home with me from Toledo, when I lived in Spain. I have a very special pair of earrings my mom and I found in the shop @thegleneagleshotel in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 that I adore. A little seahorse with a special Bahamian print that we found before the hurricanes hit the Abacos from a little shop on Man o War Cay. The boots from @heritageboot that I found with my best friend in Austin when I was pregnant with my youngest daughter. I gifted my mom the same teacup they serve coffee from at @belmondhotelcaruso in Ravello (it’s @ginori1735 in case you also love a beautiful piece of china)…you get the idea. For me, these little objects are like my version of the china I will pass down- wearing them, beholding them- I put myself back in the place. Along with the experiences that I give them, perhaps they will laugh and say to each other when I’m gone- remember when mom brought that crazy hat back from Paris? Or I want to keep the little Vespa she had sitting on her jewelry box, or the golden eagle feather the Mews director gave her in Scotland.

We are all here for as long as we are here and have no say what happens when we go. The things you love- pay attention to them. Cultivate more of that this year- whatever *that* is for you. I encourage you also, selfishly, to allow someone to show you what they love also. I love to travel and love to make my friends happy. Let me plan a trip for you in 2025. #travelagent#newyearnewyou #2025goals
